Jadis, Herringthorpe, Rotherham UK 17th January 2004

The first concert of the New Year at Rotherham drew a fairly large crowd. Southampton based Jadis again performed a great night’s entertainment from their catalogue.

Gary Chandler, John Jowitt, Martin Orford and Steve Christey is what many people would say is the classic and best Jadis line-up, and on tonight’s performance underlines the aforementioned.

The first three numbers in the set felt like a Genesis stage show and with all the dry ice, it was getting hard to see the quartet but it soon cleared, and normal service came back.

With a nice back catalogue of material to play, a nice portion was aired from the debut album More Than Meets The Eye, with such gems as Sleepwalk, Wonderful World and one of the encores, The Beginning And The End.

For the older followers of the band, Follow Me To Salzburg got a massive cheer from the near capacity crowd.

Where In The World was for me the highlight of the evening, but Daylight Fades and In Isolation were on par too.

This was a part of a mini tour taking in Holland and Belgium too, proving that Jadis are active and performing to their strengths, and with a new album planned, it could be yet another great year for the band.
